Canada to deport U.S. war deserter

Just read in the Globe and Mail that they are shipping back U.S. army deserter Robin Long. His lawyer's main defense that if he is sent back that he would be court marshaled and may face jail time.

That is no defense Robin Long dishonored himself and his country. He joined the military, found out that he didn't like being told what to do and when to do it and ran away like a little sissy girl. Now it is time to man up and face the music.

Currently Long is currently being held in Canadians custody, (in jail), because when it looked like he would indeed be sent back to the U.S.A. he decided that he wasn't going to follow the laws of his host country and was going to go underground. Long failed to appear twice for hearings once he sensed his case was going unfavorably towards his claims. He was later picked up by the Royal Canadian Mounties.

About 500 deserters in Canada are facing the same fate. About time I say. Send them home so that they can do their time. Court marshal them and jail them. Then they can live with the dishonor for their decision till the end of their days.
